Welcome!

Welcome to all new cc runners and welcome back to the old vets! We are so excited to begin training for another successful season and you should be too!

Our first day of summer training will be on June 11th at 8:30am. We meet at the Cahoon Park gazebo for warm-up laps and stretching, please be on time! It is also important to bring a water bottle so you can stay hydrated before, during, and after practice.  Running watches are also a must, please see us with any questions! We have a schedule posted (under team info to the right) so that you know what the workouts are everyday. You can also use the posted schedule and calendar to stay on track if you are out of town! Every workout is important, especially recovery days! We have this down to a science... if you plan the work and work the plan you will be happy in the fall! (copyright - Mr. Mohney)

If you are a new runner or just need to update your running kicks, please be sure to do so before you get too many miles under your belt! Supportive shoes that fit your feet are critical to running injury free for the season. We suggest visiting Second Sole located at 19341 Detroit Ave., in Rocky River, Ohio. They are very knowledgeable and will let you test run your new shoes to make sure you get the perfect fit. We also suggest investing in power steps (which are sold at Second Sole) if you have had any impact related injuries in the past. They are inserts you can use to extend the life of your running shoes or just use to add cushioning.

Cross Training

Spinning - Coach Harkins is an instructor at Pscyle, a new spinning studio in Westlake. Like we've done in previous years we will plan to cross train at the spinning studio at least once a week as a group. This truly is a great way to get a fantastic workout and give those legs a break from the pounding. Date and time for our class is TBD. First class is $5, then you can purchase a 10 class package for $60 ($6/class). All information, registration, and payment can be taken care of online at the Psycle website (just click the link above).

Swimming - One day of the week we will be doing a water workout at Bay Pool. In the past we have done water workouts after our run on Tuesdays, if that still works for the staff at Bay Pool then we will stick with Tuesdays. Once that has been confirmed we will let you know! On water workout days please be sure to bring a bathing suit, towel, and goggles! It's a great workout and is also refreshing after a hot run.

Huntington Sprint Triathlon - We have had several athletes compete in the Huntington Sprint Triathlon! It is a great event and a wonderful way to show off all your hard work! If you are interested please click on the highlighted link and get yourself registered. We can set up a time to do some open water swims at Columbia Beach if you are interested too!

That is probably enough for one post, we just wanted to make sure that everyone has all the important information for summer training!
