What a whirlwind of a weekend! We'd like to start by congratulating every runner who raced this weekend--there was some pretty tough weather conditions out there, and each of you ran your best and held your own. Congratulations to all of our boys and girls! A HUGE thank you also goes out to the dozens of BHS students, staff members, parents, siblings, extended family members, and friends who also braved the wind and cold yesterday to come cheer on our team. It was wonderful seeing you all out there, and know that it meant so much to the girls.
We started our State-bound journey with a send-off at BHS on Friday morning. This was followed by pictures...lots of pictures! The girls signed the banner;
and released ballooons;
showed off their "slicks";
and posed for many group shots with the boys;
After leaving the school and stopping for breakfast, we were really off! Both teams played games on the bus, sang songs, and took even more pictures!
The day finished up by heading to The National Trails Raceway in Hebron to check out the course, which was followed by a delicious dinner at a local Italian restaurant.
The next morning (race morning!) the girls were ready and primed with anticipation for the day ahead. The boys team ran well, finishing 13th overall. The wind seemed to get stronger and colder as the day wore on, and we knew it would be brutal for the runners in the DII girls race that afternoon. Even in those conditions, our girls raced with everything they had, and finished 12th as a team, with the following individual results:
Amanda Cusimano 25th (All-Ohio) (19:24), Abby Christel 71st (20:25), Olivia Bechtel 80th (20:38), Maddie Voiers 91st (20:58), Aubrey Crabb 118th (21:47), Hailey Russell 128th (22:25), and Carleigh Walter 130th (22:45).
The team results were as follows: Granville (86), Lexington (87), SVSM (127), Alter (147), Athens (158), Woodridge (172), Chagrin Falls (194), Springfield Shawnee (202), Tippecanoe (210), Wauseon (234), CVCA (239), Bay (292), Dover (335), Defiance (378), and Morgan (393).
After the meet, we headed to Chipotle, and then home, where both teams were in great spirits, and continued to serenade the coaches with their lovely singing voices on the long ride home.
Both Coach Snyder and Coach Aldrich are extremely proud of the efforts of our team the entire season, and we have a really wonderful time experiencing the state meet with you this weekend. Rest up, girls, and enjoy celebrating all you did this year. Don't forget that the Fall Sports Banquet is on November 11, and to wash your uniforms to turn into Coach Aldrich! More information will be heading to you soon! Congratulations again, and GO ROCKETS!

We're going to the State Championships!
Wow! What a weekend of racing! First of all, congratulations to our girls who came in 3rd at the Regional meet this Saturday, earning their way down to the State Championship meet in Columbus on November 1. Also, congratulations to the Bay Boys team as well, who will also be heading down to Columbus, following their 2nd place finish this weekend! Great job, all runners!
The girls had a fantastic Varsity race! Leading the way for the Rockets was Amanda Cusimano who came in 5th (19:44), following closely by Abby Christel in 6th (19:50), Olivia Bechtel in 18th (20:29), Maddie Voiers in 58th (21:41), and rounding out our top 5 was Aubrey Crabb right behind her in 63rd (21:47). Also running for our varsity squad was Hailey Russell, finishing in 88th (22:34), and Rose Mlakar in 104th (23:32). Our Varsity team earned 131 points, which was more than enough to earn a spot in the State meet next weekend!
We had a very exciting run during the Open race as well! Carleigh Walter led the way for the Rockets in 22:31, followed by Christina Kinkelaar (23:10), Ellie Frey who set a lifetime PR in 24:41, Delaney Bly (28:18), Mary Woods who ran her final cross country race as a senior in 28:25, Kara Gillespie (28:26), and Abbey Strauss (30:19).
All of our girls ran well, despite the heat-wave and humidity of the day! Both coaches are extremely proud of our girls, and cannot wait to watch them race next weekend. Our Varsity team for the State meet will be: Amanda Cusimano, Abby Christel, Olivia Bechtel, Maddie Voiers, Aubrey Crabb, Carleigh Walter, Hailey Russell, Christina Kinkelaar (alternate), and Rose Mlakar (alternate).
There will be an email sent home this week with specific hotel information, bus times, meet information, etc.
We hope to see as many Bay Girls XC fans down at States as we can! Go Rockets!

Regional at Tiffin THIS WEEKEND!
The Regional meet is here! This Saturday, October 25, the Lady Rockets will race at the Division II Regional Meet for Region 6 held at Tiffin.
Our Varsity team, comprised of Amanda Cusimano, Abby Christel, Olivia Bechtel, Maddie Voiers, Aubrey Crabb, Hailey Russell, and Rose Mlakar will race at 2:15, with Carleigh Walter as the alternate. The rest of the girls still racing will run at about 3:30 in the Open meet.
To advance to the State Meet next weekend, on November 1, a team needs to finish in 1st-4th place, or an an individual needs to finish in one of the top 16 places. We are very excited to see what our girls can do this weekend--they are primed, ready, and in maximal racing condition, so it should be a great day!
Important times to remember for tomorrow:
Bus LEAVES Bay High School at 10:30
Varsity race runs at 2:15
Open race runs at 3:30
Girls, make sure you bring warm/dry clothes, snacks/food for lunch (since we will be on the bus at lunch time and not racing until later--you need to be sure you eat!), money for concessions, spikes, uniforms, and your racing hearts and minds :)
Good luck to the Boys team as well tomorrow. Go Rockets!

District Meet
Our Lady Rockets braved the wind and cold and HUGE puddles at LCCC this afternoon to take away a first place finish at the District Meet! Congratulations, girls!
Our runners in the Varsity race finished as follows: Amanda Cusimano(1st--20:27), Abby Christel (2nd--20:34), Olivia Bechtel (6th--21:16), Maddie Voiers (17th--22:04), Aubrey Crabb (23rd--22:35), Rose Mlakar (30th--23:30), and Carleigh Walter (35th--23:43). Great work to all of these runners.
We also had six of our girls running in the Open meet, some trying to earn a spot on the Varsity team for next week's Regional Meet out at Tiffin. Our girls finished with the times as follows: Hailey Russell (23:29), Christina Kinkelaar (24:29), Tera Vangelos (26:37), Delaney Bly (27:47), Ellie Frey (28:48), and Abbey Strauss (31:45). These girls ran very, very well also! If you saw the course, and felt the conditions for the Varsity race, then double how strong the wind was and how muddy the course was for the Open meet. These girls braved the conditions and ran great races!
Our Varsity squad scored 49 points, winning the District, and earning a coveted spot in next week's Regional Meet at Tiffin. Without a doubt, our trip out to LCCC this past Wednesday built some confidence and strength running on the course this afternoon (and the girls really enjoyed going to Steak and Shake!)
There will be more information coming to you later on next week. As for now, the Varsity race time will be at 2:15 pm, and the bus will be leaving BHS at 10:30 am. It will most likely be another cold, windy, wet afternoon, so bring layers, money for food, and dry clothes. Thanks to all of our parents and fans who came out today! We hope to see you next week!

Amanda Cusimano, Abby Christel, Olivia Bechtel, Rose Mlakar, Christina Kinkelaar, Josie Uram, Mari Vanderkaar, Lea Flanagan, Sarah Evans, Aubrey Rohlke, and Katherine Kerka, Sara Ferrara, and Molly Harkness.
The lifetime bests were earned by:
Aubrey Crabb, Natalie Rezek, Claire Mohney, Sofie Wallace, Delaney Bly, Kara Gillespie, and Abbey Strauss!
As a team, our girls tied with Rocky River for first place (49 points each), but ended up losing with the 6th-man tie-breaker. However, Coaches Snyder and Aldrich as still very proud of the races our girls ran, and the stellar times they put up on the board!
Looking ahead, the girls will be racing at LCCC for the District meet on October 18. More information, including bus times, will be provided soon.
In case you are not aware, there ARE open races at both the District and the Regional Meets. Any girl who would like to continue their season is welcome to continue coming to practice, and racing in those meets the next two weeks!
The girls running at the District Meet will be taking a bus to LCCC with the coaches on Wednesday right after school to run the course. The girls will then stop for dinner at Steak and Shake! We expect to return to BHS by 6:30 that evening.
Girls who are finished racing for the season--WE NEED YOUR UNIFORMS!! Please return these either after school to the Coaches in the cafeteria, or to Coach Aldrich in room 205, as soon as possible.
Again, great work last weekend ladies! let's get ready to race our hearts out at the district meet!

Strongsville Invitational
Our girls ran well this past Saturday at the Strongsville Invitational! The weather was much better than last year's rain storm, although it was a little warmer than the girls were used to running in for the past week. Despite this, our varsity team placed 10th overall out of 27 teams (Bay along with Chagrin Falls were the only two DII teams racing). Our top finishers for the varsity were Amanda Cusimano, who finish 10th (out of 228) with a time of 19:16, and Abby Christel, who finished 11th with a time of 19:48. Also for the varsity, Olivia Bechtel finished 68th (21:11), Maddie Voiers finished 102nd (21:55), and Aubrey Crabb rounded out our top 5 with a 129th place finish and a time of 22:29.
All finish times are updated in the links to the right.
The week we have Saturday off (!!) and will race instead on Friday, September 26, at Gilmour Academy. There will be more information coming to you soon, but the bus will leave the school at 2:30 that afternoon, and the races will be at 5:30 (varsity--9 runners) and 6:30 (open). Hope to see you all there!

Spartan Invitational at Boardman
The girls had a good showing this morning at the Spartan Invitational. While our varsity team was missing a few of it's members due to the ACT test, they managed to walk away with 6th place team. We had the opportunity to run 10 girls in the varsity race today, who all did a nice job: Amanda Cusimano, Abby Christel, Olivia Bechtel, Hailey Russell, Aubrey Crabb, Christina Kinkelaar, Katie Galang, Emma Smith, Mia Russell, and Olivia Brahler.
For the entire team, we had SEVEN girls walk away from today with shiny new lifetime PR's (many of these girls were some of the 9 that set a PR last week at Tiffin!). They are Aubrey Crabb (22:21), Natalie Rezek (24:19), Tera Vangelos (24:45), Sofie Wallace (26:37), Delaney Bly (27:33), Kara Gillespie (27:38), and Anna Walker (29:55). Congratulations to all of these girls!
The team times/results will be uploaded on to this site tomorrow afternoon--Coach Aldrich is heading out of town this evening for a race tomorrow, so she will take care of that when she returns. Great work today to all of the girls! Rest up and Coaches Snyder and Aldrich will see you on Monday!

Avon Lake Earlybird and Tiffin This Weekend!
To start-- Congratulations are in order for our girls, who won the Maroon Division at the Avon Lake Early-bird Invitational this past weekend out at LCCC! Coach Aldrich apologizes for getting this post up so late...but if you've ever been a first year teacher before, you understand how busy she is!
We had a great showing last weekend, despite the high temperatures and humidity. Our varsity team came out on top with 96 points, edging past Magnificat with 102 points, and Rocky River with 105. Our top three runners for varsity finished in the top 15 overall--these girls are Amanda Cusimano (2nd) 20:20, Abby Christel (10th) 21:14 and Olivia Bechtel (15th) 21:32. In the open race (despite it being 10 degrees warmer than the varsity race!) our girls showed very well again! Our top three runners in the open race, with strong times were Katie Galang (12th) 24:03, Aubrey Crabb (21) 24:39, and Christina Kinkelaar (23) 24:41. Great work to all of our girls! (All times can be found in the links at the right).
This upcoming weekend is one of the team's favorites: Tiffin Carnival! Some logistics that have been shared with the girls all week, and will be shared again and again before Saturday, are that the bus LEAVES the high school at 5am. Yes, 5:00 in the morning. Girls, if you are not morning people, set multiple alarms, ask your parents to come in and make sure you are awake, etc. We cannot wait around for you at the school if you are awake. There will be a long enough bus ride out there that you can rest on the bus. For the meet, the coaches would recommend, (in addition to making sure you have your spikes, uniform, etc.), bringing money for snacks/shirts, some sort of snack/lunch since we will not be getting back to Bay until later in the afternoon, warm and dry clothes (it looks like it might rain!), and a water bottle.
This weekend, the Open race will be run at 8:30, and our varsity runners will race at 10:35. We hope to see a lot of parents and support come out to cheer us on at such a great event!
There will be order forms sent home with the girls on Thursday for team spirit gear (long sleeved shirt, sweat shirt, and sweat pants). Please fill these out and return them to your senior captains ASAP.
Great work so far this week, girls. And good luck at Tiffin!

WSC Preview Recap, and the week ahead!
Congratulations to our girls on taking FIRST in the WSC Preview this weekend! (Congrats to the boys team as well, who also won!) We had a great showing by every runner on Saturday. While the temperature wasn't too bad, the humidity and the sun made things pretty tough, but our girls pushed through, and many of them had their best times so far this season. We had 3 girls finish in the top 10, and 5 total finish in the top 13. This is a good start to our season, and we predict that all of our girls will continue to show us the same level of effort, passion, and drive that they have shown us the months of July and August.
The girls that will be representing our team in the varsity race this upcoming weekend at the Avon Lake Early-Bird are: Amanda Cusimano, Abby Christel , Olivia Bechtel, Hailey Russell, Maddie Voiers, Carleigh Walter, and Lydia Milligan. To see everyone's finish times, consult the links at the right, or check out baumspage.com
Our bus will be leaving BHS at 7:30am Saturday, August 30. Our race times will be: Varsity (9:30), and Open (10:30).
It was great to see all of the girls at school this week--they definitely made Coach Aldrich's first few days at BHS a lot brighter! Remeber, since it will be very warm out again this week, make sure you are hydrating throughout the day--not just right after practice. You need to by hydrated to stay focused and healthy throughout the school day too so that you can perform your best in the classroom, as well as at practice.
See you all this week and great work!

Blue & White and the Week Ahead
First of all, congratulations to all of our runners who ran Blue & White this past Saturday. Both coaches were very pleased with the effort you all put forth, and think that we are right where we want to be as a team at this point in the season! The "official" finish times (as kept by Coach Snyder) are linked to the right. Thank you also to all of the parents and Bay XC fans that came out to cheer our girls on!
This upcoming week we will continue to meet at 8am at the gazebo Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. On Wednesday, many of our runners are participating in the Classic at Mastick race in the evening, so we will NOT hold organized practice in the morning. If you are one of the girls NOT running the race that night, aim to complete a 40 minute run on your own. Girls and parents, start to think about carpools and how you are going to get down to the race. There is parking available, but it can get tight. We will talk a little more about this at practice this week, but since this is not a formal school event, transportation is your own responsibility.
Looking at the weather for this upcoming week--the temperatures look great for running, but there is going to be rain and storms. Just in case those roll in during our morning practice time and the coaches decide to cancel practice, make sure you're checking your phones so that you receive that message!

Upcoming Team Events!
First, Coaches Snyder and Aldrich want to say how proud we were of the girls last weekend on the Mohican trip! Every runner worked extremely hard, and we could really see the girls growing together into a stronger team and family. Also, and huge thank you to the chaperones: Tom Bechtel, Chris Gillespie, Thom Kerka, and Rick Voiers, to all of the parents who donated food/served as drivers, and to Mary Ellen Voiers and Anne Kerka who shopped and did so much of the organization. We could not have pulled off this weekend without you all!
Tomorrow (Friday, August 8) is out team picture. We need to be at the High School Staduim at 2:45. Out slot is from 2:45-3:30, so expect to be at the school that long. The girls informed us that they are to wear "nice" clothes--meaning no uniform. Judging by last year's year book, girls wore dresses, or pants and a nice top.
Saturday is the BLUE AND WHITE meet. This race is a low-key and low-pressure alumni meet, at Cahoon Park, starting at 9am. Girls are expected to meet at the gazebo at 8am to warm-up. Girls have been divided into two teams as follows:
Blue: Amana Cusimano, Abby Christel, Hailey Russell, Rose Mlaker, Christina Kinkelaar, Tera Vangelos, Anna Walker, Molly Harkness, Katherine Kerka, Abbey Strauss, Claire Mohney, Emily Taylor, Halle Matejka, Kara Gillespie, Lauren Uram, Maddie Eaton, Olivia Brahler, Sarah Evans, Ingred Sullivan, Marissa Lee.
White: Olivia Bechtel, Maddie Voiers, Carleigh Walter, Lydia Milligan, Ellie Frey, Mia Russell, Aubrey Crabb, Mari Vanderkarr, Abby Lindway, Aubrey Rohlke, Delaney Bly, Emma Smith, Josie Uram, Katie Galang, Lea Flanagan, Maddie Schwartz, Sara Ferrara, Natalie Rezek.
Girls, please wear your team color on Saturday morning. Also, bring what you usually would for practice: watch and water bottle. We cannot wait to see the girls race for the first time this season, and to see all parents and family out supporting our girls!
Also, to continue the tradition of Thursday night pasta dinners for the boys and girls teams, we need a lot of parent support and help! Please sign up on Saturday, before or after the race, at the shaded pavilion near the course. Holly Uram and Jill Walter will be there manning the sign up sheets. If you cannot make the meet on Saturday, but would like to help, please contact one of those two.
The coaches also outlined a few team rules on August 1 for the upcoming season, as well as how to earn a varsity letter. These are listed below, and also linked on the right.

Rules:
- Your education at Bay is your #1 priority.

- Respect our differences! We are all wired differently; add us all together and we comprise the 2014 Bay Girls Cross Country Team. Everything we experience in 2014 we experience together as a team!
- If you can not make practice or a meet let one of the coaches know.
- If injured contact the coaches and we'll get you to the trainer or take whatever steps necessary.
- Use common sense and good judgment. Don't do anything that would put yourself, your team, or your school in any jeopardy.
How to earn a varsity letter:
- Anyone who runs on the varsity team (top 7 in most meets; top 9 in a few) will earn a varsity letter.
- Anyone who is not in the varsity race but runs a time that would have been varsity earns a varsity letter.
- Any senior who has run 4 years but not been on varsity will earn a varsity letter.

Mohican, Team Pictures, and Captains!
Today was the first official day of organized practice, and with it came lots of exciting stuff! First up is Mohican:
The Mohican trip is THIS WEEKEND. We will be meeting at Cahoon, near the brown shed, on Sunday, August 3, at 11:30am. There we will be packing cars and hopefully heading out by noon. We will make the return trip on Tuesday, late morning. Parents have been receiving lots of emails about the trip, and everyone who is bringing tents, food, or driving, should know the specifics for what they signed up for. We have 29 girls coming with us this year, and are expecting great weather! Some important items to remember to pack include:
Next, team photos will take place on Friday, August 8. Our time slot is from 2:45-3:30pm. Photo packets/order forms were handed out at practice today. We have extras, so let us know if you still need one.
Finally, congratulations to our team captains who were voted on today! The vote was very close, and so this year we ended up with 6 awesome girls who are ready to represent our team! Congratulations Carleigh Walter, Katherine Kerka, Lauren Uram, Lea Flanagan, Maddie Voiers, and Sarah Evans!

Training July 21-27, and Some Important Dates!
Hi, everyone! We hope that everyone's summer is going well--we have had great turnouts at our team runs, and all the girls are working very hard!
For this week, the workouts are going to be as follows: Veterans complete four runs--50 minutes, 40 minutes, and two 35 minute runs. Rookies, also complete four runs--40 minutes, 30 minutes, and two 25 minute runs. We will continue to meet at the gazebo this week at 8am to run as a group, (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday), and meet at 8:30 on Wednesday to do some core followed by a pool workout.
Some important dates coming up include next Monday, July 28. This is the date of the parent's meeting for information regarding Mohican. It will be held at 7pm, at the brown shelter by the soccer fields on Cahoon Road (across the street from the Gazebo). There will be a notary present at the meeting if you are still needing to take care of getting the Mohican permission form notarized. We will discuss drivers, tents, foods, supplies, and general questions about out upcoming trip. Please plan to attend.
If your daughter is planning on running the Classic at Mastick on Wednesday, August 13, you need to fill out and mail in the registration form, no later that August 6. Registraion were sent home with the girls at practice, but if you need another, Coach Aldrich has lots of extras she brings with her each monring.
Finally, all important forms for the school are due by August 1! These are the physical forms, concussion form, emergency medical form, and insurance form. If these are not all in the hands of Coach Snyder or Coach Aldrich (or on file at the High School) by August 1, your daughter cannot participate in pratice, untill they are received. Please turn those in ASAP.
So far we are enjoying working with all of the girls, and are anticipating a great season! With the weather warming up, be sure to hydrate often, and make sure you are fueling throughout the day (as well as before practice in the morning--meaning EAT BREAKFAST!), so that you feel your best for the workouts.

Info about Wednesday Swim Workouts
As in years past, we will have a cross-training day at the pool throughout the month of July. Our pool day will be on Wednesdays this month. We will meet at the gazebo at 8:30 (note that this is later than the 8am meeting time for our running days), to do a short core/strength workout, before walking over to the pool. We will be in the pool for about 30 minutes each time.
The girls do not need to be expert swimmers, just comfortable in the water, using a kickboard, etc. Make sure to wear regular running clothes to the core workout part that day--we can change into our suits later on once we're at the pool.
In order to participate in these workouts, each girl MUST turn in a signed pool waiver form to either Coach Snyder or Coach Aldrich by Wednesday. These can be found attached to the right.
Also on Wednesday or Thursday, the coaches should have a packet of important forms that need to be turned in by the start of the season: Concussion form, Emergency Medical form, and Insurance Release form. Please watch out for those and turn those back in to us as soon as possible.
Great run this morning! Remember to hydrate throughout the day, and to bring water and a sports watch with you to practice each morning. See you all tomorrow!

Team Meetings/Training Starts TOMORROW!
We hope everyone has enjoyed their down time so far this summer, and is ready to start some more formal meetings and trainings starting tomrrow, Monday, July 7. We will be meeting at the gazebo starting at 8am for a workout. It is really important that the girls start hydrating ahead of time (meaning today), and bring water with them to practice tomorrow. Also, if you do not already have one, each girl should look into getting a sports watch to wear while running because a lot of our runs will be time-based.
Another reminder that we will be going to the Bay pool on Wednesdays this month, starting this week! In order to attend these workouts, each girl much bring a signed pool waiver. This waiver is attached to the links at the right. We will provide more information this week about those workouts. Girls do not need to be expert swimmers to do these workouts, just comfortable in the water.
We're excited to see a lot of you in the morning! Enjoy the beautiful weather outside today!

Some Reminders
Some reminders as we continue through June and head into the start of team-training in a couple of weeks!
First, we will be doing pool workouts again this year, on Wednesdays during July. In order to participate each runner needs to bring a signed copy of the pool waiver (it is attached on the links to the right). Girls, you do not need to be a pro-swimmer, just comfortable in the water. Girls can bring the waivers once we start in July, or they can bring them to Coach Aldrich during the easy runs the next two weeks.
Speaking of the easy runs, we are into our second week of the June build-up! This week, new runners and freshmen should aim to run three times this week for 22 minutes, and veterans should run three times for 30 minutes. We have had a good group of girls showing up at the gazebo to run! This week (June 23-29) we will have a group up there with Coach Aldrich at 8am on Tuesday and Thursday. These runs have been easy in pace, and fun in nature. The girls have picked routes and Coach Aldrich has enjoyed getting to know some of the runners!
Don't forget about getting your sports physical! We need all forms on file by August 1 in order for you to participate once the regular season begins. Try not to wait until the last minute to get those done.
Lastly, while it seems far off, the Classic at Mastic is approaching! This is a great race that the team has done in the past, and it's a great race to get some confidence on a cross country course before our official season begins. This year's race is on August 13, 2014, and registration tends to fill up early, so register if you are wanting to run. Let's get as many girls as possible out there! The link is HERE to the registration page.
Remember to hydrate and fuel well! It's getting warm and humid out there and will only get worse this summer. Make sure your body is adequately fueled so that you can get the most out of your runs and workouts. Enjoy the week!

Soul to Sole 5k, and Swimming!
For those of you who are interested, the Sprint or Stroll for Soul to Sole is going to be next Saturday, June 21, starting at Bay High School. HERE is the link for registration. It appears to have the same course as the Snoball Run from this past winter! Sign up if you're interested.
During team practices in July, we have decided to continue the tradition of doing a cross-training day at Bay Pool. We will go to the pool every Wednesday during that training month of July. More details will be discussed once we start meeting as a team. In the meantime, as usual, each girl will need to complete and bring to us a waiver form, in order to participate. The form is uploaded and linked to the right.
Remember that our June buildup is starting this week. Get some easy runs in, and remember that Coach Aldrich will be at the gazebo on Tuesday and Thursday at 8am, if you want some company.
Happy running! Stay hydrated and enjoy the sunny weather.

June Running Build Up
With the start of the 2014 season approaching, Coaches Scott Snyder and Rachel Aldrich wish to welcome you to what we are sure will be a fantastic season! Before we discuss the build up plan for the month of June, we want to sincerely thank Coach Ashley for allowing us to continue to use this blog as a communication tool for the team, and also handing over the team email address: baygirlsxc@gmail.com to us to continue to use as a contact source as well.
The month of June is going to serve a couple of purposes for our team this year. It will be a month of recovery and rejuvination, for those of you coming off of spring sports, and it will serve as a base building month so that we are all ready to go once we start meeting as a team on Monday, July 7.
Coach Snyder would like all the girls to do a three week build up to get ready for our summer training. These three weeks start very soon--on June 16! How they work will be the following:
Week 1 (June 16-22): Incoming freshmen, or other first year runners, aim to run 3 times this week for 20 minutes each. Veteran runners, run three times for 25 minutes each run.
Week 2 (June 23-29): First year runners, run 3 times this week for 22 minutes, and veterans, run 3 times for 30 minutes each run.
Week 3 (June 30- July 6): First years, run 3 times this week for 25 minutes each run, and veterans should run 4 times this week for 30 minutes each. Note: Friday July 4 is the Bay Days 5 Miler. Click HERE to view the registration form. We will not be entering as a team this year, but this would be a great run to do to get back into the racing atmosphere, and get one of your runs accomplished for the week! Plus, both coaches will be there, and we would love to see you along the course!
These runs outlined above are just a guideline. Some of you may do more or less, but the goal is to get you out there, running easy, and getting your body ready for the month of July. Run on whichever days you can, and what ever time of day you can! Meet some friends, and enjoy yourself. Remember, these runs are supposed to be done at an EASY pace. No need to push yourself too hard this month.
This is NOT MANDATORY or expected, but if any of you girls would like, Coach Aldrich is willing to meet each week during June to do some easy running with you! If you are interested in meeting one of your new coaches (and she's the new math teacher!), she will be at the gazebo (where you have always met in the summer) at 8:00am on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting June 17. (if need be, we can adjust these times and dates, but let's stick with them for Week 1).
For this summer, Coach Snyder would like to encourage all of the runners to have some sort of sports watch, and remind you all to bring a water bottle to practice! It gets warm around here, and you need to make sure you are taking in adequate fluids throughout your run, and your day, so that you can perform and feel your best.
There will be more information coming to you soon, once things get started. We look forward to working with all of you this season!
