5th at REGIONALS

Congratulations on a great race today ladies!  Of course we were one place short of one our goals which was making it to the state meet as a team, but remember we did meet several other goals that we set for ourselves this season!

- We had three runners under 20:00 minutes, which is amazing!
- We moved up 7 places from last years finish
- Our average time was 20:14, which is a season best for the team! (by 10 seconds!)

Congratulations to Hallie Bechtel and Maddie Britton for not only running lifetime best times but for breaking the huge 20:00 minute barrier for the first time.  We can't wait to see what you can do next year!

We are so proud of what you accomplished today as a team.  It isn't fun to be the first team not going to the next stage but we learn something from every experience and we will use what we learned today to motivate us all next season!

Please know that we could not be more proud of you and you ran VERY well against the toughest competition in any region in the entire state.   Our region was extremely fast this year (seriously go to Ohio Mile Split and compare) and you ran strong and tough among some of the best athletes in the state. Hold your heads high and be proud of what you've accomplished!

Get pumped to cheer on the boys team next Saturday at Scioto Downs!

REMINDERS:
-All uniforms and warm-ups due MONDAY to Coach Ashley's room.

"Act as if you already are. This is one of the many mantras that we employ when it comes time to go after a goal that is beyond what has already been accomplished. Breaking new ground physically requires you to first break that mental barrier so that it can come into being."

DISTRICT RUNNERS-UP!

Congratulations on your 2nd place finish at Districts!  You ran well as a team, brought home hardware, and got your beautiful faces on the wall at BHS!  We are so proud of you and hope you are proud of your performance too!  You remembered what we focused on this week....the FINISH.  Every single one of you stayed strong and didn't let anyone pass you at the end and made some critical moves before the finish line, nice work!

Thank you for all the team support today!  You girls are not just good cheerleaders (we know you can be loud) but essential motivators for your teammates when they really need you the most! Special thank you to the timers who climbed all the way up the hill and took on the big responsibility of getting the splits!

Congratulations!

Chantelle Fordyce- As a first year cross country runner and a senior on the team Chantelle did a great job setting her own personal goals every week and motivating her teammates at practice and at every meet. She too dealt with an injury in the beginning of the season, but just like Elizabeth she stayed positive while she worked through her injury and was able to run a LIFETIME PR at her last race. Hannabelle Sterle: Hanna ran like the racehorse she is and came in first place overall! She ran nice and relaxed the entire race and it paid off! Can’t wait to see what happens at conference, Hanna! If you run anything like you did last weekend you will be in great shape! 

Fostoria Booster Invitational

This Saturday we will be headed west (2 hours to be exact) to the Fostoria Booster Invitational.  We will be running in the Red Division race all together as a team... there isn't a separate open race.  This is a great opportunity to close the gap between you and the runner in front of you. Remember this is a sport based on places so work together and get in front of people!

Red Division Race - 9:00am (all runners!)

BUS LEAVES at 6:00am --- please be at the school at 5:50am so we are ready to go!  Time wasted waiting after 6:00am is time you won't have to warm-up, find the bathrooms, and see the course!

Parents click HERE for mapquest directions to the meet.

Last year we placed 5th, lets see if we can move up and bring home another trophy.  You can do it ladies!

"Mental will is a muscle that needs exercise, just like muscles of the body."

Congratulations to the varsity team on their 2nd Place finish and to the open team on their 3rd place finish at Hogwarts!  You girls really rose to the challenge after a hard week of practice and we couldn't be happier with the results! Overall we had 19 season PR's and 14 LIFETIME PR's... which is amazing given that you are still working through the hardest part of the training program. Can't wait to see what happens once you have a little rest ; )

Top 7 Finishers:

Alyse Arko (20:10 - LIFETIME PR)

Andrea Hanna (21:17 - LIFETIME PR)
Maggie Harter (21:24 - Season PR)

Trophy Sleepover Winner: Maureen Piccirilli

Maureen ran a lifetime PR of 21:11….her goal was to break 22:00 and she crushed that goal! We are sure that the next goal of breaking 21:00 is totally attainable before the end of the season. Keep up the hard work Maureen, you lead by example and all your dedication is paying off! Congrats! (but take it easy on us….all these great runs make us tear up….what will the other coaches think ?!?)
Golden Spike Winners:

Eliz Fulop: Eliz has worked hard all season and finally broke that 23:00 mark… she didn’t just break it, she smoked it by running a 22:28! What a great lifetime PR! Eliz finished 10th on our team this week, which is fantastic! You truly do give it your all Eliz, in practice and in races, and we admire your motivation and dedication! Congrats! We think your next goal should be breaking 22:00- you can do it! 

Izzy Zitiello: Izzy ran her lifetime PR on Friday and crushed her previous time by well over a minute! Izzy finished 9th for our team and did such a wonderful job. You definitely showed us what you’re capable of Izzy, and we know that there is more where that came from! We can’t wait to see how fast you run at Fostoria- maybe top 7?
