WSC CHAMPIONS!

Westshore Conference Team Champions 2011
CONGRATULATIONS ON A HUGE VICTORY ON SATURDAY!  YOU'VE WORKED SO HARD AND DESERVE THE TITLE OF WSC CHAMPS!

We are so proud of every single one of you for all the outstanding effort on Saturday and also for being such wonderful teammates to each other and to us as coaches.  It's no surprise that such a special group could end a 26 year old drought and bring home a conference victory! We were not only proud of your running but also your ability to encourage everyone that surrounds you. You spread positive energy to not only your own team but to the high school boys and the middle school teams as you cheered them to the finish!  Thank you for staying for every race and helping us clean up the park!

A huge thank you to Barb Piccirilli for organizing all the volunteers for Saturday's meet.  Barb, we will never be able to thank you enough for everything you've done for this team...but we can at least start here... THANK YOU!  Every year the coaches and parents from other teams compliment us on such a well run meet, and its because of all the wonderful parents we have to help us pull it off!  Thank you to everyone who helped from concessions, to t-shirt sales, timers, water table, spotters, photographers... the works!  We appreciate all the time and effort!

Top 7 finishers for the team:
Maddie Britton, 3rd Place - WSC 1st Team
Hanna Sterle, 4th Place - WSC 1st Team
Maddie Voiers, 5th Place - WSC 1st Team
Hallie Bechtel, 7th Place - WSC 1st Team
Alyse Arko, 8th Place - WSC 2nd Team
Carleigh Walter, 16th Place - WSC Honorable Mention
Katie Bricmont, 18th Place - WSC Honorable Mention

Golden Spike Winners: Lea Flanagan & Maureen Piccirilli

Lea Flanagan – Lea battled injury all season long but was diligent in her recovery and it all paid off on Saturday! Despite the conditions, Lea set a season/lifetime PR by over a minute which we can only attribute to her determination and focus throughout the season! It is also very encouraging to see her run so fast with modified training. We can’t wait to see what you can do next season Lea! You are off to an incredible start! Congrats!

Maureen Piccirilli – Unfortunately Maureen was forced to sit out the last two weeks of the season due to a stress fracture (the boot strikes again!) but was cleared to run her final high school race. She ran with so much courage and we could not be more proud! Maureen has been such an important positive force on the team for the last four years and we will miss her so much next year. Congratulations on an amazing high school career Maureen! We are so proud of the runner and leader you have become!
